Guiding Your Wealth: Essential Questions Women Should Ask to Grow Your Fortune and Guard Your Future.
Making decisions about your financial life can be overwhelming. The financial industry may make you feel overlooked or underserved. We understand. It’s why we have taken all our experience and expertise investing billions of dollars for hundreds of people in bull and bear markets over the past quarter century to create Zuma Wealth for you.
Women face an investment gap. This happens because women often take time off from work to care for kids or parents. Also, women often hold more cash than they really need to, falling behind on the investment gains that come from being more fully invested.
You deserve open dialogue and honest communication. Whether you are just thinking about getting started with professional financial advice, actively seeking a professional, or heading into a meeting with your current advisor, we can help you find the topics to discuss to offer peace of mind.
We want to share the questions that cover the basics and more that will guide you as you grow your fortune and guard your future.
Who is your custodian?
As Schwab and TD Ameritrade finalized their merger over the first weekend of September 2023, we thought it would be helpful to start with a discussion of a custodian and what it means for you.
Zuma Wealth works with Charles Schwab as custodian for client accounts. This separation of RIA (Registered Investment Advisor) and custodian is in place to protect you from loss or misuse of funds due to the Investment Advisers Act of 1940 as well as subsequent updates in 2009 by the Securities and Exchange Commission in the aftermath of Bernie Madoff’s Ponzi Scheme. A benefit of this distinction for clients is “side by side” reporting. As a client, you receive communications on investments, asset allocation, and performance reporting directly from Zuma Wealth as well as separate reports from the custodian, allowing a second “set of eyes” for total transparency on your investments and activities.
The importance of choosing the right custodian to work with is paramount to both your experience as a client and the safety of your assets. High-quality custodians will be protected through SIPC insurance and even go above and beyond for investors by providing additional coverage, like the expanded comfort that Schwab offers through Excess SIPC insurance. In addition to annual reviews, Zuma Wealth performs ongoing due diligence on custodians, their insurance, and areas of potential risk. We pride ourselves on delivering the top custodian to ensure the highest level of service for you.
